Wowee Lucky Me!

The first time I heard Molly say this about a week ago I couldn’t believe my ears.  I wanted to squeeze her with delight! What a brilliant expression. She learned it from a book Conor used to read to her: “Hippo says yawn”. He hasn’t read it for months but the phrase week’s to have stuck. Its great to hear her say it when she gets a treat!

Playing house

This is how Molly left her toys today after a hard day’s playing. Earlier today she said “Mama, ‘fitxu  baba”. (baba = small playmobil baby which she loves to put in its buggy and take for walks with its mama) She’d hidden him in her “welli-boot”. The sentences are just streaming out of her now. As for the way she plays, I just love looking at the interesting places and situations her little toy characters end up in after her day’s play.

Tiring afternoon in

Doing nothing when you’re home alone can be restful.  Doing nothing when looking after a toddler at home is exhausting. Molly was supposed to be at nursery. I was supposed to be drawing, cleaning and preparing the house for a viewing. Molly’s got a temperature so none of that happened.

Sunny morning indoors

Molly still wasn’t too well this morning so we decided to take it easy. We threw open the windows and watched the Koala Brothers.  Molly did some painting and played with her camper van toys. She kind of smeared paint all over herself too so a midday bath was in order!

Walk round the pond

Temperatures soared to 26 degrees Celcius today.  After nap time Molly and I sought out the the shade of the trees and went for a stroll round the large ponds nearby. Everyone else in the neighbourhood had the same idea so the lakeside was bustling with people soaking up the sunshine. Molly had an ice lolly in her buggy but didn’t like the ducks getting too near. We stopped for a while to sit on a muslin cloth in the grassy shade of a tree and Moll enjoyed picking up pebbles, playing with the dirt and nibbling rice cakes from her snack pot.

Babysitting Joshua

Molly and I babysat Joshua at his house this morning. The three of us had lots of fun. We watched a bit of Toy Story 3, did jigsaw puzzles, ate crisps and Jaffa cakes and drank squash, played on the swing, trampoline and slide, hunted snails and did digging with twigs, played with a train, drew Peppa Pig, played snap and read stories! Phew! OK, so each activity may’ve lasted 5 mins max but we made it through the morning without tears!

Morning at Southbank

Today we joined Paul and Jason on the tourist trail to Southbank. We caught a great mime show and explored the park near the London eye. Its great to appreciate the city we live in from a tourist’s point of view from time to time.  And with the Olympics kicking off in a matter of days its worth enjoying the city before public transport becomes even less buggy-friendly than it already is.
